Blizzard Warning, Winter Storm Warning

Friday...

The National Weather Service in Juneau has issued a Blizzard
Warning... which is in effect until 9 am akst Friday. The Winter
Storm Warning is now in effect from 9 am to 6 PM akst Friday. The
Winter Weather Advisory is no longer in effect.

Northeast wind to 30 mph with gusts up to around 50 mph... combined
with cold temperatures over the region... will produce wind chill
temperatures between 30 below to 50 below zero through Friday
morning. Areas of blowing snow will lower visibility below 1/4
mile at times. Heavy snow will continue this evening through
Friday afternoon. Snowfall of 1 foot or more is likely by late
Friday afternoon.

A Blizzard Warning means a serious threat to life and property is
already occurring or imminent.

Travel is discouraged unless it is an absolute emergency.

Visibilities will be reduced to near zero in falling and blowing
snow.

Be prepared in case there is a loss of power.

Exposed skin in the advisory area can become frostbitten in
10 minutes. If you must be outdoors... be sure to cover all
exposed skin.

A warning means that a winter storm is already occurring or
imminent. This storm could pose a threat to life and property.

This statement will be updated by 9 PM akst tonight or sooner if
conditions warrant.
