Special Weather Statement

... A change to unsettled weather is likely this upcoming week and
the Thanksgiving Holiday weekend...

An area of low pressure will develop in the eastern Pacific
Monday... then move into California Tuesday and Wednesday. This
will bring a chance of rain to the central California interior
Tuesday through Wednesday.

Rain and higher elevation snow could arrive as early as Monday
night... but more likely later Tuesday and Tuesday night. Snow
levels will remain relatively high Tuesday... 7000 feet or
higher as the flow aloft will be southerly... then lower to 6000
feet Tuesday night. As colder air aloft reaches the area
Wednesday... the snow level will lower a little more to around 5500
feet. Also with the colder air aloft... there is a potential for
some isolated thunderstorms Wednesday afternoon.

A second and colder system could reach central California later
Thanksgiving day or early Friday. With this storm... the snow level
will lower to 4000 to 4500 feet. This would impact travel on
mountain passes such as I-5 over the Grapevine and Tehachapi
Pass. This colder and unsettled pattern may last well into the
Holiday weekend.

Holiday travelers should monitor forecasts over the next several
days and plan accordingly.

Listen to NOAA Weather Radio or your local media for the latest
updates on this changing weather pattern.
