High Wind Advisory


... High Wind Warning will expire at 8 PM MDT this evening...

The winds will continue to decrease this evening but still some
speeds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts to 35 mph can be expected through
midnight. The winds will shift more westerly overnight with speeds
of 15 to 30 mph.




Statement as of 2:19 PM MDT on May 26, 2012

Fire Weather Warning


... Red flag warning now in effect until 8 PM MDT Sunday for wind
and low relative humidity for the southern Front Range
foothills...

* affected area... fire weather zone 216.

* Timing... strong winds and very low humidities will continue
through early evening. There will be some improvement
overnight... though humidity recovery will be poor. It will be
windy and dry again on Sunday... though conditions will not be as
extreme as today.

* Winds... southwest 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 60 mph this
afternoon. Winds decreasing to 15 to 25 with gusts to 40 late
tonight... becoming more westerly on Sunday.

* Relative humidity... as low as 7 percent this afternoon with
recovery to 30-40 percent tonight... then as low as 12 percent
Sunday afternoon.

* Impacts... fires will be very difficult to control and have
high rates of spread if ignited.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring or imminent. Please advise the appropriate
officials and fire crews in the field of this red flag warning.
