High Wind Warning


... High Wind Warning remains in effect until 10 PM MDT this
evening...

* timing... the strongest wind speeds are expected early this
evening.

* Winds... south to southwest winds 30 to 40 mph with peak gusts
to 60 mph or greater.

* Visibility... visibility may be reduced to a few miles in
blowing dust or blowing sand.

* Impacts... drivers of high-profile vehicles and motorcycles
should be alert to the danger of these winds. Individuals
planning outdoor activities should take precautions. It is
recommended that loose objects such as patio furniture and
trash cans be secured.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A High Wind Warning means a hazardous high wind event is expected
or occurring.

People... especially those with respiratory illnesses... heart
disease... the elderly... and children are encouraged to stay
indoors and avoid prolonged outdoor exercise or heavy exertion
due to wind-blown dust.

Fire Weather Warning


... Red flag warning remains in effect until 9 PM MDT this evening
for gusty winds... low humidity... and dry fuels for fire weather
zone 201...

* affected area... in Colorado... fire weather zone 201 Routt
forecast area.

* Winds... south to southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph
in the valleys and up to 75 mph over the higher terrain.

* Relative humidity... 10 to 15 percent below 8500 feet... and
15 to 20 percent above 8500 feet.

* Impacts... fire ignitions will be very difficult to control
with high rates of spread expected.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A red flag warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now... or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds... low relative humidity... and warm temperatures will
create explosive fire growth potential.

Please advise the appropriate officials and affected field
personnel of this red flag warning.
