605 PM PST Wed Jan 7 2009

... The Flood Warning remains in effect until 300 PM PST Friday for
urban areas and small streams in Latah... Benewah and Whitman
counties...

Rain is expected to redevelop this evening... and continue through
tomorrow morning. Additional rain amounts of a half inch to three
quarters of an inch will be possible by late morning. The most
significant rains will fall along the Washington Idaho border and
over the higher terrain in Benewah and Latah counties.

For Whitman County... water over County roads continues to be a
problem over most of Whitman County. Motorists should never drive
into water covering the roadway... especially at night when it is
hard to determine the depth of the water. State Route 27 near Pine
Creek... from milepost 43 to milepost 44... was reduced to one Lane
due to flooding. An ice jam has also been reported on the South Fork
of the Palouse river... upstream of Colfax and Palouse. County
officials are attempting to break up the ice this evening... so
residents downstream of the ice jam should be prepared for rises on
the Palouse river... and large chunks of ice flowing down the river.
Some basement flooding has been reported around Tekoa and Colfax.

For Latah County... the County emergency manager reported that water
was over Highway 95 south of Moscow. Highway 6 near milepost 6 also
has water over the Road. Basement flooding has also been reported in
several portions of the County.

For Benewah County... several small streams are still expected to
rise overnight into tomorrow. Ice jamming is still a concern on some
of the creeks and small streams.

A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.

To report flooding... have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the National Weather Service forecast office.

502 PM PST Wed Jan 7 2009

... The Flood Warning remains in effect until 300 PM PST Friday for
Spokane and Kootenai counties...

Rain is expected to redevelop Wednesday evening and continue through
Thursday morning. Additional rain amounts up to a half inch are
expected in the Spokane area by late morning. Amounts as high as
three quarters of an inch will be possible for the Coeur D'Alene
area.

The rain combined with water from melting snow has the potential to
cause street flooding for the morning commute. Street flooding could
be enhanced in areas where storm drains are clogged or where snow
berms channel water through the street.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.

To report flooding... have the nearest law enforcement agency relay
your report to the National Weather Service forecast office.
