Winter Storm Warning


... Winter Storm Warning in effect from 7 PM this evening to 7 PM
CDT Saturday...

The National Weather Service in Wichita has issued a Winter Storm
Warning for significant winter weather... which is in effect from
7 PM this evening to 7 PM CDT Saturday. The Winter Storm Watch is
no longer in effect.

* Timing... rain is expected to change to snow across the area
during the evening. This transition could be marked by a period
of sleet.

* Snow accumulations... of 4 to 6 inches are expected by Saturday
evening... with isolated higher amounts possible. Some of this
accumulation could be a mixture of snow and sleet.

* Winds... of 25 to 30 mph with gusts to 40 mph are expected
tonight and Saturday.

* Impacts... the gusty winds could result in some drifting of the
heavy wet snow. Snow covered and slick roadways are expected.
The heavy wet snow may cause damage to outdoor vegetation which
has already sprouted leaves.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning means significant winter weather is
expected or occurring. This will make travel very hazardous or
impossible.
