Winter Storm Warning


... Winter Storm Warning remains in effect until 6 am EST
Saturday...

* hazard types... snow and blowing snow.

* Accumulations... additional snow accumulations will likely be an
inch or less across Cumberland and Androscoggin counties for a
storm total between 4 and 8 inches. However... 3 to 5 inches more
are expected further north into the foothills allowing for a
storm total of 6 to 10 inches.

* Timing... into early Saturday morning.

* Impacts... roads will continue to be snow covered making travel
difficult. Blowing snow will reduce visibilities to under a
quarter mile at times.

* Winds... northwest 15 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph.

* Temperatures... 9 to 24 above.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of
snow are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in
an emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...
food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.
