Areal Flood Advisory


... Flood Advisory remains in effect for Ottawa... Muskegon... Oceana...
Newaygo... Montcalm... Mecosta... Kent... Isabella and Gratiot counties
until 630 PM EDT...

At 247 PM EDT... National Weather Service Doppler radar showed one
round of heavy rain lifting north of the advisory area. Additional
showers and thunderstorms were developing upstream across Southern
Lake Michigan to near Allegan and Kalamazoo. This area of
precipitation was lifting northeast.

Measured rainfall amounts over two inches have already been received
from Croton. Hourly amount between a half inch to an inch have been
measured at both Big Rapids and Mount Pleasant.

Another round of showers and thunderstorms will track through the
advisory area as a result through 5 PM. The rain could be heavy at
times. Locally up to another inch of rain could fall from this
second batch of precipitation.

Runoff from this excessive rainfall will cause minor flooding to

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

Excessive runoff from this storm will cause minor flooding of small
creeks and streams... urban areas... highways... streets and underpasses
as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
