Lake Effect Snow Warning, Winter Storm Watch

... Lake effect snow warning remains in effect until 10 am EST
Friday...
... Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Saturday afternoon
through Sunday afternoon...

A lake effect snow warning remains in effect until 10 am EST
Friday. A Winter Storm Watch remains in effect from Saturday
afternoon through Sunday afternoon.

Lake effect snow showers... heavy at times... will continue through
Friday morning... mainly north of Newberry and in particular from
Pine Stump Junction and tahquamenon falls to the Lakeshore.
Snowfall rates may exceed 2 inches per hour in that area.
Additional snow accumulations up to 10 inches are possible near
the Lakeshore overnight through Friday morning. South of Pine
Stump Junction... expect accumulations of 1 to 3 inches.
However... little or no snow will fall along and south of Highway
M-28.

A clipper type low pressure system will pass through the area
Saturday... bringing another reinforcing shot of colder air. This
will create More Lake effect snow and strong winds Saturday and
Saturday night. Blowing and drifting snow with low visibilities
and up to 6 inches of snow are possible Saturday and Saturday
night.

A lake effect snow warning means significant amounts of lake
effect snow are forecast that will make travel very hazardous or
impossible. Lake effect snow showers typically align themselves
in bands and will likely be intense enough to drop 1 to several
inches of snow per hour for several hours. Visibilities vary
greatly and can drop to zero within minutes. Travel is strongly
discouraged. If you must travel... keep an extra flashlight...
food... and water in your vehicle in case of an emergency.

A Winter Storm Watch means there is a potential for significant
snow accumulations that may impact travel. Continue to monitor
the latest forecasts.
