Winter Weather Advisory

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until midnight CST
tonight...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow remains in effect until
midnight CST tonight.

* Short term trends... light snow has moved northeast to the
Joplin... Monett... Springfield... and Branson areas as of 3 am.
The snow will spread to the east reaching areas from the Lake of
The Ozarks region south to West Plains by 6 am.

* Timing and areas affected... periods of light snow will continue
to spread east into the region this morning. While most areas
will only have a light accumulation by the morning rush
hour... the snow is expected to accumulate quickly on Road
surfaces with a cold ground in place.

* Snow accumulation... light snow with occasional periods of
moderate snow will gradually accumulate through this evening. A
storm total snow accumulation of one to three inches with
locally heavier amounts is expected.

* Ice accumulations... freezing drizzle is expected to develop in
some areas this afternoon and this evening. An ice accumulation
of one tenth of an inch or less will be possible for areas along
and south of the Highway 60 Corridor. North of the Highway 60
corridor... an ice accumulation of a few hundredths of an inch
will be possible.

* Impacts... Road surfaces will become slick and hazardous today.
Areas along and west of the Highway 5 corridor will likely
experience slick roadways during the Monday morning commute.
Even though the wintry precipitation will end tonight... slick
roads will likely persist in some areas into early Tuesday
morning.

See the latest Missouri and Kansas Department of Transportation
web sites (modot.Org and ksdot.Org) for the latest Road
conditions and traffic alerts. Drive slowly and carefully. Be
prepared for completely snow covered roads... or at the very least
slick areas... especially on bridges and overpasses.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
