Winter Weather Advisory

... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until midnight CST
tonight...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow remains in effect until midnight
CST tonight.

* Short term trends... areas of light snow have spread over much of
the region early this morning. Snow amounts have generally been
an inch or less west of Missouri Highway 5. An inch of snow has
been reported in far southwest Missouri in Barry County. The
Missouri and Kansas departments of transportation are reporting
at least partial or fully snow covered roads over much of the
region despite the relatively low snowfall totals. Periods of
light snow will continue this morning.

* Timing and areas affected... periods of light to occasionally
moderate snow can be expected over the region today. As an upper
level system moves through the region this afternoon... periods
of somewhat heavier snow may be possible. Some intervals of
drizzle and freezing drizzle will also be possible... particularly
late this afternoon and this evening.

* Snow accumulation... light snow with occasional periods of moderate
snow will gradually accumulate through this evening. A storm
total snow accumulation of one to three inches with locally
heavier amounts is expected.

* Ice accumulations... freezing drizzle is expected to develop in
some areas this afternoon and this evening. An ice accumulation
of one tenth of an inch or less will be possible for areas along
and south of the Highway 60 Corridor. North of the Highway 60
corridor... an ice accumulation of a few hundredths of an inch
will be possible.

* Impacts... Road surfaces will be slick today. See the latest
Missouri and Kansas Department of Transportation web sites
(modot.Org and ksdot.Org) for the latest Road conditions and
traffic alerts. Drive slowly and carefully. Be prepared for
completely snow covered roads... or at the very least slick
areas... especially on bridges and overpasses.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that periods of snow
will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow
covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while
driving.
