Winter Storm Warning


... Winter Storm Warning in effect from midnight tonight to 3 PM
MDT Friday...

The National Weather Service in Cheyenne has issued a Winter
Storm Warning for heavy snow and blowing snow... which is in
effect from midnight tonight to 3 PM MDT Friday. The Winter
Weather Advisory is no longer in effect.

* Timing... midnight tonight through 3 PM Friday afternoon.

* Total snow accumulations... 5 to 8 inches.

* Winds/visibilities... north to northeast winds are expected to
increase to 15 to 25 mph with higher gusts behind a cold front
tonight through Friday morning. Visibilities could be
significantly reduced by a combination of snow and blowing snow.

* Impacts... hazardous driving conditions will be possible tonight
into Friday afternoon. Significant drifting of snow will lead to
blocked and impassable roads for areas across the Nebraska
Panhandle Friday morning.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Winter Storm Warning for heavy snow means severe winter weather
conditions are expected or occurring. Significant amounts of snow
are forecast that will make travel dangerous. Only travel in an
emergency. If you must travel... keep an extra
flashlight... food... and water in your vehicle in case of an
