Summary... the National Weather Service in Binghamton, NY has confirmed a microburst /straight line wind damage/ near Scipio Center in Cayuga County New York on 05/21/2013. Severe winds caused a discontinuous path of sporadic damage to trees, crossed Owasco Lake and completely destroyed one old barn. This information can also be found on our website at weather.Gov/bgm. For reference... a microburst is a convective downdraft with an affected outflow area of less than 2 1/2 miles wide and peak winds lasting less than 5 minutes.
