... Snow expected over the South Washington and north and central
Oregon Cascades this weekend...
Snow is expected to begin accumulating significantly in the
South Washington and north and central Oregon Cascades this
weekend... continuing to build the autumn snow pack in the
Cascades. Snow levels will fall to between about 3000 and 4000
feet later Friday night and generally continue in that range
through the weekend. This would bring snow to the Cascade passes.
Snowfall may not be continuous throughout the weekend... but there
will be a few periods of heavier snow... including late Friday
night and early Saturday. Amounts through the weekend could exceed
6 inches... and possibly exceed a foot at higher elevations north
of Santiam Pass.
Use caution if planning travel across the Cascades this weekend.
Be sure to carry chains as well as cold weather gear and supplies.
