Weather Summary

Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday, November 23, 2008. A developing low pressure system will move through the Plains towards the Great Lakes. It will initially carry little moisture, but as it moves eastward it will draw considerably moisture northward from the Gulf of Mexico into the Southern Plains and Mississippi Valley. This moisture will produce rain from eastern Texas through the Ohio Valley. A mix of rain and snow will fall farther to the north through Wisconsin.

A high pressure system to the east will keep dry conditions dominant through the Southeast and Mid-Atlantic. The Northeast will also be mostly dry, but some lake effect snow showers may linger for part of the day in western New York. A developing ridge of high pressure will keep the main storm track well to the north in Canada. Instead, dry conditions will prevail in the Southwest and along the West Coast. Some morning showers are possible in the Intermountain West.

Cold air will gradually lift northeastward out of the Northeast and Great Lakes. Enough cold air will linger to produce another day of cold temperatures in those regions. Warmer air will streak into the Mississippi Valley and Tennessee Valley.

The Northeast will rise into the 20s and 30s, while the Southeast will see temperatures in the 50s and 60s. The Northern Plains will rise into the 30s and 40s, while the Northwest will see temperatures in the 40s and 50s.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Saturday ranged from a low of -14 degrees at Wakefield, Mich. to a high of 89 degrees at Rialto, Calif.
