... The Flood Warning remains in effect until 1000 PM CDT Wednesday
for small streams in southwestern Brown County...
* snowmelt runoff continues to cause high levels on streams in Brown
County... especially foot and Moccasin creeks. Foot creek has
shown a very slow rise today at the gaging site just downstream
of the Richmond Lake spillway. Meanwhile... Moccasin creek has
continued to rise through the last 24 hours and is now expected
to possibly reach a stage of 7 ft at the gaging site on
Roosevelt street on Wednesday. Much of the rise on Moccasin
creek can be attributed to the high water levels on
foot creek... which is serving to backup Moccasin creek. Homes
and businesses near Moccasin creek could be affected by this
high water over the next few days.
A Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or has been reported.
Stream rises will be slow and flash flooding is not expected.
However... all interested parties should take necessary precautions
immediately.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
Most flood deaths occur in automobiles. Never drive your vehicle into
areas where the water covers the roadway. Flood waters are usually
deeper than they appear. Just one foot of flowing water is powerful
enough to sweep vehicles off the Road. When encountering flooded
roads make the smart choice... turn around... dont drown.
