Special Statement

... Near record heat to continue through Memorial Day weekend...

The hottest weather so far this year has arrived in middle
Tennessee as a strong upper level ridge of high pressure covers
the region. High temperatures today have reached near record
levels in the upper 80s to mid 90s... and similar high temperatures
are expected for Sunday. This hot weather may break records going
back more than 100 years. Normal high temperatures for this time
of year are in the low 80s.

Since this period of hot weather is arriving rather early in the
season and many people will be outdoors this Holiday
weekend... please review all of the following heat safety rules.

Avoid strenuous activities during the hottest part of the day.

Take plenty of breaks and get out of the sun when you can.

Drink plenty of non alcoholic fluids.

Wear loose and lightweight clothing.

Never leave children or pets unattended in cars.

For additional heat safety information... please visit our website
at weather.Gov/Nashville.
