The National Weather Service in Salt Lake City has issued a Wind
Advisory... which is in effect from noon today to 9 PM MDT this
evening.
* Affected area: Castle country... the San Rafael Swell... the
Sanpete/Sevier valleys... west central Utah... southwest
Utah... utahs Dixie and Zion National Park... south central Utah
and the Lake Powell area.
* Winds: south to southwest winds 25 to 35 mph with gusts to 55
mph.
* Timing: winds will increase throughout the morning and will
remain strong and gusty this afternoon into this evening.
* Impacts: travelers in high profile vehicles in these areas may
experience strong Crosswinds... particularly on east-west routes
including US-89 from Kanab to Lake Powell and Interstate 70. In
addition... boaters on area lakes including Lake Powell should be
prepared for rough chop.
Precautionary/preparedness actions...
A Wind Advisory means that sustained wind speeds of at least 31
mph or gusts of 45 mph are expected. Motorists in the advisory
area should be prepared for sudden gusty Crosswinds which can make
driving difficult.
