... Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 am EST this morning...

A Wind Advisory remains in effect until 10 am EST this morning.

* Areas affected: lower Maryland Eastern Shore and Virginia
Eastern Shore including Cambridge... Salisbury... Ocean City...
Melfa... Chincoteague and Cape Charles.

* Hazards: strong northwest winds in excess of 40 mph.

* Winds: frequent strong wind gusts of 40 to 45 mph with
isolated gusts to near 50 mph.

* Timing: strong winds will persist through 10 am this morning. Winds
will slowly decrease by afternoon.

* Impacts: some minor damage may result from the frequent strong
wind gusts. A few downed trees can be expected. Light objects
such as trash cans and lawn furniture will be blown around.

Precautionary/preparedness actions...

A Wind Advisory means that winds of 35 mph are expected. Winds
this strong can make driving difficult... especially for high
profile vehicles. Use extra caution.

Special Statement


... Snow ending but roads remain icy...

Snow has ended across the Eastern Shore..however... many roads are
partially covered with snow and becoming icy. Law enforcement is
reporting icy roads across all of the Eastern Shore of Maryland
and Virginia. Temperatures are expected to remain well below
freezing through the entire morning allowing ice to linger on area
roads after daybreak. Drive with caution this morning... reducing
speeds... and avoid sudden braking especially on bridges and
overpasses.
