236 PM PST Thu Jan 8 2009

... The Flood Warning remains in effect until 830 am PST Friday for
western Yakima and Kittitas counties...

At 225 PM PST... the heavy rain and snowmelt seen over the last
several days continues to produce areas of the flooding over
Kittitas and western Yakima counties.

Numerous roads across this area remain closed due to flooding. The
west side of Ellensburg near the 106 exit of Interstate 90 remains
flooded as well.

The Elk Meadows subdivision remains flooded... with the bridge over
the Yakima river on McElroy street washed out.

There will be dry and cooler conditions over the next several days
with the flood waters slowly receding.

Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the
dangers of flooding. If flooding is observed act quickly. Move up to
higher ground to escape flood waters. Do not stay in areas subject to
flooding when water begins rising.

Do not drive your vehicle into areas where the water covers the
roadway. The water depth may be too great to allow your car to cross
safely. Move to higher ground.
