Tropical Cyclone Anika will track southeastward towards Western Australia and will make landfall near Learmonth Saturday night. The system will lose strength as is moves over cooler water, but is expected to bring 17 mph winds with gusts up to 29 mph to Western Australia. Strong winds high in the atmosphere will push heavy rain and thunderstorms into Australia before the system reaches the coast. Expect strong winds, heavy downpours, and thunderstorms over most of Western Australia, with dangerous surf along the coasts as 23 mph winds, gusting up to 34 mph, will kick up 8 ft wave heights. Meanwhile the remnants of Tropical Cyclone Bernard will move eastward towards Indonesia on Saturday and will take a southerly turn, but will remain well off land. This system will also move over cooler waters and lose strength and is not expected to reorganize. Expect this system to continue to kick up dangerous surf with 8 ft maximum wave heights due to 23 mph winds, gusting up to 34 mph. Most of Australia will see wet conditions on Saturday as another low pressure system hovers over New South Whales, producing moderate to heavy showers and thunderstorms. Thus, Sydney will see rain with a high near 69(F)/ 21(C).

To the north, a low pressure system moving off the Tibetan Plateau will bring scattered showers to central China and start to push a high pressure system eastward. Expect Shanghai to be mostly sunny with a high near 64(F)/ 18(C), while Hong Kong will see a few clouds with a high near 75(F)/ 24(C). High pressure over the East China Sea will bring mostly sunny skies and warmer temperatures to Japan and the Korean Peninsula on Saturday. Thus, Tokyo will see a few clouds with highs approaching 60(F)/ 14(C).
