Weather Summary

Weather Underground Forecast for Sunday, November 22, 2009.

Wet weather persists over northern Europe on Sunday as a strong low pressure system continues spinning over the North Atlantic. The center of the system will move onto the British Isles and pull abundant moisture over the region. The system will also create a cold front that will push ahead of the storm and pick up additional moisture from the North Sea before tracking through Scandinavia. Cool temperatures are not associated with this system, thus, most of Scandinavia will remain in the 50s. Expect light and scattered showers over Oslo with highs near 50(F)/ 10(C), while Stockholm will also be rainy with highs in the upper 40s(F)/ 9(C).

Back in the west, the center of the large low pressure system will allow for wet weather of Ireland and the United Kingdom. Thus, London will remain dreary with highs in the lower 50s(F)/ lower teens(C). The storm will push a moist cold front that will sweep through France and kick up light and scattered showers throughout the day. Paris will see a rainy day with highs in the upper 50s(F)/ mid-teens(C).

To the east, ahead of this system, a strong ridge of high pressure will slowly get pushed eastward as the trough moves in. This ridge will allow for mild weather and warm conditions over central Europe and the Mediterranean Sea. This will also stretch into eastern Europe and western Russia and bring mostly sunny skies to the region. Munich will see a few increasing clouds with highs near 60(F)/ 16(C). Barcelona and Rome will remain sunny with highs approaching 70(F)/21(C). Further east, a trough lingering over southwestern Russia will allow for a few scattered showers. Moscow will see sprinkles with highs in the upper 30s(F)/ near 3(C).
