Snow over western Newfoundland will taper off near midnight. A cold southwesterly flow will develop behind this low. Snow squalls will develop along the west and southwest coasts of Newfoundland on Monday morning. These squalls have the potential to produce local significant snowfall amounts and reduced visibilities in blowing snow. The public is advised to monitor subsequent forecasts as warnings may need to be issued. Over eastern Newfoundland rain at times heavy will persist tonight. Further rainfall amounts of 10 to 20 millimetres are expected before the rain eases overnight. Strong southeasterly winds are expected to gust up to 100 km/hour along parts of the East Coast this evening. Additionally, high waves and pounding surf will impact the south and the East Coast of the Avalon this evening.
