Severe Weather Bulletin issued by Environment Canada at 2:27 PM CDT Thursday 18 March 2010. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Warnings in effect for the Kivalliq area of Nunavut... Blizzard Warning for: Arviat Rankin Region including Whale Cove Baker Lake. Blizzard conditions expected this evening..improving overnight or Friday morning. This is a warning that blizzard conditions are imminent or occurring in these regions. Monitor weather conditions..listen for updated statements. --------------------------------------------------------------------- Warnings ended for the Kivalliq area... Blizzard Warning ended for: Chesterfield inlet. --------------------------------------------------------------------- ==Discussion== northwesterly winds between a ridge of high pressure over the northwest territories and a system near baffin island are giving blizzard or near blizzard conditions to Whale Cove and Rankin inlet. These conditions are expected to gradually spread into the Baker Lake and Arviat areas this evening. Conditions are forecast to improve throughout the area overnight into Friday morning.
